Low-Carb King Atkins Files for Bankruptcy
You knew that this was coming too, didn’t you?
Atkins Nutritionals Inc., the company that promoted low-carb eating into a national diet craze, has just filed for bankruptcy court protection.
The Atkins diet was a huge commercial success. But I’ve always believed that it was something you should stay away from.
In early 2004, the low-carb craze peaked when over 9 percent of U.S. adults claimed to be on such a diet, according to market research firm NPD Group. That figure declined to 2.2 percent last month.
Everyone was jumping on the bandwagon. I’m sure you too had friends, neighbors and colleagues on the low carb diet.
Now, be honest. Were you on the diet too?
Actually, I wouldn’t blame you if you were “infected” by the craze. The popularity of the low-carb fad was really incredible. In fact, I’d say it was “pressurizing”.
Many people were telling themselves, “If it’s so popular, maybe I should just give it a try.”
And they did.
And that made it even more popular, which enticed even more people onto the bandwagon.
However, that was in the past. I hope that you know by now that “low or no carb” is not a healthy way to lose weight.
My goal here at WL40 is to teach all of you women over 40 how to lose weight healthily, and keep it off. That’s why I’ve always recommended that you stay away from these fad diets.
And I’m glad more and more women are catching on to the fact that these low carb diets are not good for their long term health. Plus, it’s not even enjoyable!
And although people saw an initial weight loss when they are on such a diet, they soon plateaued or they missed carbohydrates so much that their weight started to yo-yo.
Not good.
If you’re not on my list yet, get on it now. You’ll soon learn many ways of losing weight that are far more healthy and enjoyable!
