How to Control Your Appetite
This is a common problem among men and women regardless what age group you are in.
Appetite, by definition is the natural desire that people or any kind of animal has to satisfy the bodily need for food. As natural as it might sound, having a very large appetite isn’t really healthy. For one thing, you’ll be battling with a big problem of excess weight if you don’t learn to control your appetite.
The Tricks that Keep Your Stomach Honest
1) You should never skip meals. The reason you’re body feels hungry is because you need to give your body the energy it needs to work properly. If you quit the habit of skipping meals, especially skipping breakfast, you’ll have a better way of controlling your appetite. When you keep your blood sugars level, you’ll have weaker urge to eat.
2) You should eat more often. This not only helps you with keeping hunger at bay, it also helps you with losing weight. A point to take note of, however, is that you should eat smaller portions of these meals. It’s like putting the amount you eat for breakfast, lunch and dinner and dividing them into five equal parts. You’ll get just the amount of nutrients you need for the day and you won’t get the urge to buy an unhealthy snack in the middle of the day.
3) Eat slowly. When it’s time to eat, make time for it. Eating is one of the best pleasures in life and you can get the most out of it if you eat slowly. When you do this, you’ll also benefit from getting the message to your brain that your stomach is full. There’s less room for mistakes with going over the point of fullness when your brain understands the message loud and clear.
4) At the end of your meal and also at regular intervals of the day you have to drink water. Take water as the easiest, cheapest and healthiest way for you to control your appetite. Most likely, you’re only thirsty but your body is interpreting it as hunger. If you feel the need to eat and it’s only hours after you took a meal, drink a glass of water instead of grabbing that candy bar.
Your appetite can be relentless if you don’t make the effort to control it. If you have bad eating habits and you have a habit of giving in to appetite, you’ll end up with far bigger problems in the future. It’s best to start gaining control over your appetite today so you can live a happy, healthy life.
