Healthy Foods May Make You Fat

First impressions can deceive… or worse, they can make you fat!

Many dieters are on the look-out for healthy (or healthier) food to eat. But just because a certain food features or contains a healthy ingredient (e.g. fruits, vegetables) does not mean that it’s good for you and can help you lose weight.

Christine Gerbstadt, spokeswoman for the American Dietetic Association, says:

Foods with wholesome images — nuts, yogurt and granola — are often consumed with abandon by dieters and end up sabotaging them. Many brands of granola, for example, can be packed with up to 600 calories per cup and are loaded with more sugar than a cup of Cap’n Crunch.

Remember: It boils down to the calories consumed.

You can see perfect examples of this at your retail stores. Just flip over the package and look at the nutrition labels and I bet you’ll be shocked at the number of calories that are in some of the “low fat” foods.

If you want to lose weight, you’ll really need to compare the different products available, and choose the one that’s lower in calories.
