Can You Really Eat All the Sugar You Want?

Are you one of those people who must have your coffee/tea with sugar?

Do you love soft drinks and crave for sweet desserts?

If you love sugar, you’re gonna love Andrew Briscoe. Mr. Briscoe is the president and chief executive of the Sugar Association, and he’s just said something incredible at the annual meeting of the main U.S. industry group American Sugar Alliance.

I admit. This must be one of the boldest statements I’ve heard in a long long time.

Want to know what he said?

Mr. Briscoe proudly proclaimed, “We believe in calories in and calories out. Sugar is not a part of obesity issues.”

The first part about the calories in and calories out is absolutely true.

But if you believe the latter part about how sugar is totally unrelated to obesity, I’m here to give you a rude awakening from your fantasy dreams.

Seriously, how can anybody say with a straight face that sugar is unrelated to obesity?

If that’s the case, then why not take the argument further? We can then conclude that eating mayonnaise, fried chicken, ice cream and desserts has nothing to do with obesity. In fact, every single food item out there in the world is totally unrelated to obesity, right?

After all, according to the argument put forth by the Sugar Association, it’s the “calories” that count.

“Huh?” you say? Yes, I’m scratching my head at the logic behind the statement too!

Sugar contains calories. And that’s a undeniable fact.

And if Sugar Association believes in the “calories in, calories out” model, how can they then go ahead and say that sugar is not a part of obesity issues? It’s baffling, to say the least!

Deliberately or not, I think they will be confusing more consumers by making these sort of statements.

So let me be perfectly clear — sugar is nothing but empty calories. Sure, it tastes wonderful, but it doesn’t do your body any good.

Minimize your intake of sugar, and your body will benefit from it. Plus, you’ll find it easier to lose your unwanted weight!
